Halloween Goodness - aka - eat candy till you puke

Halloween 2008 found us mingling with Axl (Chase) & Slash (McKay)...
and I found myself saying,
"WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, BABY!"
(no kidding)

then there was my lil' cowboy (Tony), "trick or treat ya'll"
my sweet & sassy flamenco dancer (Valerie), "trick or treat, cha-cha-cha"
and my oh so groovy hippie chick (Courtney), "peace, love & trick or treat man"

A good time was had by most** as we enjoyed yet another Haunted Heather Halloween with family & friends.

** this is Tony's treat bucket & as you can see, he really did not dig the whole "dress up in a weird costume & knock on strangers doors" thing. (he ripped off his costume before we even got out the door) Do you think he understood that he would get CANDY for playing along????
I THINK NOT.

Curls today, Gone tomorrow.

Today Tony got a Hair Cut... not a trim.
A HAIR CUT.

thank you Mandy for "holding my hand" while you Snip, Snip, Snipped.

And for letting me scoop up the remains of Tony's babyhood to bring home in a baggie.
(is it weird to sleep with your (last) baby's curls under your pillow?)

oh what a difference a day can make.

Everybody was Kung-Fu Fighting

It all started when Tony found my post-Lasik protective eye goggles. They instantly became one of his favorite accessories.
I would often find him like this...

Pretty soon everybody decided to get in on the action...
the goggles brought out the kung-fu fighter in all of us.

Even Murphy.
hi-ya!

Party till you can't party no more...

I took Courtney & Valerie for a GIRLS NIGHT OUT.
We went to dinner at Red Robin then to High School Musical at Gammage.

they were thrilled to get all dressed up & go Out On The Town, baby.

being demure with Mr. Red Robin...
until their excitement got the best of them.

we LOOOOVVVEEE you !!!!
(can we call you Robbie?)

The show was fabulous. Costumes, singing, glitter & glam. Valerie kept leaning over and saying, "MOM, they didn't do THAT in the movie". She would know. A fantastic evening with my little chicks.
I would say they partied hard.

what do you think?

Friday Flashback

August 2005
" The Mother of all Monsoons"
Every year in Arizona we get monsoon season. Some merely come & fizzle, while others nearly blow us off the face of the map. August of 2005 was a particularly fierce monsoon season.
We loved every minute of it.
Jon, McKay & Chet decided to go swimming during the downpour.

When the raindrops began to feel more like a hail of bullets, the boys decided to take cover in our deck box.

Our street became a raging river so they grabbed some swim tubes & rode the rapids down our street & into the park at the end of our cul-de-sac, which was now a rain-filled lake.

And, yes, there were actually kids from our neighborhood canoeing in the park.

COOL!!! The boys came home soaking wet & exhilarated, and thankfully their post-rainwater-swimming rash only lasted a couple of days.

A good time was had by all.

Feelin' Groovy

Something about mom's retro pom-poms makes us
Feel So Very

PS - stay tuned for post featuring my retro pom-poms, soon to be adorning my bedroom curtains...if I can tear them away from my groovy babes.
